Oscar thoughts

How do you give the awards for sound editing and mixing to Inception, but not the best score? Toy Story3 ? Seriously? Toy Story 3? No comparison to the Inception soundtrack.

Well, at least they gave the right film best costume design.

(Actually, I’m sitting here going, “don’t care” to most of the minor awards because, well, I don’t.)

James Franco and Anne Hathaway are wonderful. Good writing for those two, boy. Loved the big song number on my man Hugh.

You have to be kidding me. Obama taped a bit for the Oscars? Can you say, “Unbelievable narcissist”? Of course you can.

Wow, Kevin Spacey can sing, too. Better than Randy Newman.

Meryl, why does anyone take the Oscars at all seriously? I mean, seven “Police Academy” movies and not one measly nomination. No nominations ever for Jackie Chan.

I hope we’re not going to fall out over this, Meryl, Randy is one of my all-time favourites. I am especially partial to ‘Land of Dreams’. I first heard ‘Dixie Flyer’ when he performed at the London Palladium in 1987 (the late Chairman was looking after his keyboards, and we had guest seats), and immediately after the show I went to a late night record shop to buy it.

Still, Kevin can sing, I’ll grant you that :).

We must have been watching different Oscars. As part of the demographic the Academy was trying to appeal to-I’m 40-I found those two to be about as interesting as watching paint dry.
The ONLY reason I wasted 3+ hours of my life on that lame production was because of ‘King’s Speech’. Despite my being on the autistic spectrum-which means I’m basically a soulless robot-King’s Speech had me almost in tears at the end of the film.
I also now have a major crush of Geoffrey Rush. HE deserved the Best supporting Oscar-not Christian Bale.
To quote the great Dennis Miller: ‘Of course, that’s just my opinion. I could be wrong. ‘

  4. No, chairwoman, we won’t have a falling-out. But really, Randy can’t sing very well.

annoyinglittletwerp, I don’t know, I liked them. Possibly because I was catching up on my soap operas during commercials and then rewinding or fast-forwarding the DVR. Maybe I skipped the boring stuff. Franco has a very laid-back style that I have gotten used to since he started acting on General Hospital, so maybe he’s an acquired taste.
