I don’t know what a Metropolite is, but apparently, they don’t screen their candidates for their loving kindness to all. In the tinfoil hat world, such a statement is considered completely logical.
Apparently a Metropolite is the bishop of a particular city in the Greek Orthodox Church, in this case The Piraeus (the port of Athens). It seems he is not the only Metroplite making similar remarks. From

What’s appalling about this is not that someone has these views, and it’s not so much that Greek tv lets him express them more or less without challenge, it’s that he is a fairly high functionary in a hierarchical system and I would bet his superiors don’t even issue a mild reprimand. They may not agree with what he says, but it’s not something they’re going to go into with him.
I am probably being cynical but my guess is that if he issues a similar kind of statement about Muslims the response would be swift and condemnatory.
