Sunday snarks

Must… not… say… it… Must… not… say… it: The Palestinians are opening a Rachel Corrie restaurant. Say, think it’ll feature pancakes?

Damn. I said it.

Iranian ERA Watch: Iran has restricted 12 “Western” social sciences. These include law, women’s studies, and human rights. Psst: Dufuses—they don’t have to study these subjects to know that you’re restricting them.

Lauren Booth completes the transformation: She’s now a Muslim, so I presume she’ll soon be advocating actual jihadi tactics against Israel, instead of just slamming Israel as your run-of-the-mill British anti-Semite.

Queers for Palestine: Still on the wrong side. Israel’s version of Dancing With the Stars will have a same-sex couple. Palestinians still torture and murder gays. Wrong side, QUIT morons.

    From the Lauren Booth article:

“I sat down and felt this shot of spiritual morphine”

She doesn’t know how right she is.

Interesting that law and philosophy should be considered too “Western” for innocent, pious Iranians to study. I can see where the Rule of Law would upset the Ayatollahs. I can also see why the idea of rational argument and logic would upset them too. The Ayatollahs are confirming Pope Benedict’s point at Regensburg in quoting Emperor Manuel Paleologus, that got so many Muslims so upset that they threatened violence to object to the contention that Islam is hostile to logical reasoning.

The Ayatollahs could make even better arguments that among the subjects too Western to be suitable for Islamic students are physics, modern medicine, biology, chemistry, engineering and, for that matter, mathematics and computer science. These are all areas where the last significant Muslim contributions were a millenium ago, and which are, in their modern forms, products of the Enlightenment. Muslims who work in those subjects are, de facto, westernized in their thought. “Allah wills it” does not hack it in science, any more than “Deus vult” does. But for some reason the Ayatollahs don’t reject nuclear physics. Curious that, and not at all consistent.

Dangerous too. As the Commies found out, if you let people think rationally about science they go on to think rationally about the dreck ideology their opressors are shoving down their throats. For the purity of Islam the Taliban had the right idea; keep everybody ignorant and the country economically moribund. If they had not got involved it that jihad nonsense Osama bin Laden sold them they’d still be able to prohibit music, kite flying, and shaving in Afghanistan, and any other innocent practices that offended their shriveled, radical Islamic souls.

Lauren Booth is an example of how antisemitism and hatred of the West will attract ever more people in Western contries, who are subject to those mental disorders, to convert to Islam. Let them move to Muslim countries. In Booth’s case, let her move to Gaza, since she loves the murder-prone Palis so much. That is what Medieval Muslim jurists decreed for converts in non-Muslim countries to do. If they want to be truly Islamic, and obey the Muslim religious law, that is the way to do it. Besides, Booth can undoubtedly find there a pious, Muslim man to be her owner, in accordance with good, proper, Muslim fundie practice, one who will beat her only so severely as not to leave marks, as Sharia requires. Doesn’t she want to live a properly pious lifestyle?
