Try using brushes – starting with very open teeth and getting progressively finer. This has always worked with my dogs, who got mats on their chest from the harness I use when I walk them.

  2. You’re assuming he likes being brushed on his belly. He does not. That’s why he has mats. He’s very unlike my previous two Tigs, who loved being brushed anywhere, anytime.

What type of gloves did you wear during this process?

  4. Heh. None. I can generally get two mats before he gets really ticked off.
