Call the Vet and find out. I think you can neutralize it with baking soda and water or apple juice.

To quote wikipedia “The corrosive white powder sometimes found around the battery terminals is usually lead sulfate which is toxic by inhalation, ingestion and skin contact. It is also corrosive to the eyes, skin and any metal parts of the automobile with which it may come in contact.”

So no, it isn’t good for him, so please keep an eye on him and make sure he hasn’t poisoned himself.

It might be a much better idea to keep him inside, permanently.
