They are discrediting the cause they claim to uphold by asserting the baseless claims of cynical enemies of freedom and antisemites eagar to smear Israel. In the US for instance we have a government that is facing a lot withering criticism but simply does not seem to care or worry about it. Obviously in the long run it doesn't matter.
