One point is that we cannot determine what is in a person's heart, nor can we determine if Hashem has sent whatever trials and tribulations a person may have suffered as a kapara (atonement?) for whatever sins he or she may have done. In any case, she deserved capital punishment and is finally undergoing it. At the time I felt badly about it (not for the sentiment itself, but for including him so high on the list along with dictators and mass murderers) but with each new such smiley-threat my regret dissolves.
