I was the one responsible for going over to Reuters’ Jerusalem bureau, and sitting with an editor there to get those clips (part of much longer raw tape segments).

“‘A Reuters representative and I sat together early Friday morning May 8th at their Jerusalem bureau to edit down several segments of the longer un-edited material,’ writes Dave Bender, Senior Editor of Access Middle East. ‘The material left out, in order to keep the file size minimal, consisted of random similar scenes of armed and unarmed Palestinians thronging the street seen in the clip. This accounts for the somewhat jumpy cuts. However, nothing relevant has been deleted or distorted from this version,’ adds Bender.”

Incidentally, the Reuters individual sitting with me to note the cuts and rip me a copy at the time, seemed either indifferent or unaware of the significance of content in question:

The UN supposedly held an investigation, but obfuscated and blustered something over the story weeks later. I’m still looking for articles on officials quoted in the UN final statement… pls let me know if you come up with something.

I’ve seen quotes saying that it did air on U.S. tv at some point, though.
