Obama to Israel: Screw Shalit, open Gaza crossings

The Obama administration is trying to force Israel to open the Gaza crossings without getting back Gilad Shalit, who has been in captivity for over 1,000 days.

The United States has stepped up pressure on Israel regarding the Gaza Strip: Three weeks ago it sent Jerusalem a diplomatic note officially protesting Gaza policy and demanding a more liberal opening of the border crossings to facilitate reconstruction.

U.S. and Israeli sources say the note was followed by a verbal communication clarifying that the Obama administration thinks Israel’s linkage of the case of abducted soldier Gilad Shalit and the opening of the crossings was not constructive.

Tell me, will the Obama administration send an equally firm note to Hamas telling them that kidnapping and holding hostage Israeli soldiers is not constructive?

You voted for him, Jews of America. Look at what you got. A man who is so pro-Palestinian that he’s willing to sacrifice Jewish blood to score points with the world’s Muslims.

When the crossings open, Hamas gets more material and cash with which to build the weapons that murder Israelis.

Here’s hoping Bibi stands firm on this, too. Because the Obamaniacs are upping the pressure everywhere.

And with the crossing points open it gets easier for Hamas to infiltrate terrorists into Israel, there to carry out attacks and kill Israelis. Dear President Obama, you can plead cluelessness or you can plead malice, but in either case your intrusion is counterproductive and stupid. Stop meddling in Israel’s affairs and start meddling in Iran’s if you want to accomplish something decent in your term of office.

Now, Meryl, I’m sure the president will issue a stiff note to Hamas in due course. Why not?

He tells Israel to open the crossing points and not thicken the settlements. Whether Israel is doing it or not can be easily ascertained and appropriate US response follows.

He tells Hamas not to engage in brutal savagery and violence. He also tells the Palestinians to at least cut down on the constant vile anti-Semitism that spews from every Palestinian media outlet, mosque, and office. I am sure he’ll do that at some point. But anyone want to bet whether this will be monitored and responses made when none of the filth from the Palestinians abates in the slightest?

I didn’t vote for him, Meryl. I am still a member of Ameinu (former Labor Zionists) mostly for social reasons. I once asked my fellow members who are involved in non-Jewish progressive activities whether they ever brought up Israel in those groups and agitated for genuine negotiations and pressure on the Palestinians, with verifiable monitoring. They looked at me blankly.

I also notice that there is no mention of asking Egypt to open its border with Gaza.
