My wife and I saw the “Killers on Saturday Night Live TV show here in the US, performing that song.

We had to look up the lyrics. Turns out, some lyrics site have it:

“Are we human?
Or are we denser?”

Makes a little more sense.

Interesting. Mary Chapin Carpenter has the exact same lyric as Tom Petty in a song called "10,000 miles."
