Random stupid lyric thought
Please explain to me—in 25 words or less—exactly what this lyric means: “Are we human, or are we dancer?”
Judging by the drum machines in the song, I’d have to say he’s dancer. Actually, no, Dancer is Dancer, but, well, he’s a fictional reindeer.
Add one more lyric to my list of stupid lyrics, which include even Carole King: “Snow is cold, rain is wet.”
Uh-huh.

Tom Petty
And the rocks might melt, and the sea may burn
I love this stuff.
No explanations. Just stupid lyrics. But they sound good in the songs.

Interesting. Mary Chapin Carpenter has the exact same lyric as Tom Petty in a song called “10,000 miles.”

My wife and I saw the “Killers on Saturday Night Live TV show here in the US, performing that song.
We had to look up the lyrics. Turns out, some lyrics site have it:
“Are we human?
Or are we denser?”
Makes a little more sense.

Oh, but I see you linked to the “lyrical confusion” part, so I guess you already know that. :-p
