Marxism and its developments and variants have always rejected nationalism as unprogressive and a mask for the real primacy of economics. This, of course, refers only to certain forms of nationalism; Palestinian nationalism, for example, is very progressive. But of all the reactionary and regressive nationalisms, from Marx's early writings on Jewish nationalism has been identified as the most reactionary. If you have been born Jewish, what better way to demonstrate your progressive credentials than by leading the fight against Zionism? And if you read Rachelg's blog...good grief, sympathy for Ba'hai's? Who the hell cares about them? Besides, since they're being oppressed by a regime that is objectively progressive, even though it reeks of medieval regressiveness, "who cares?" doubled. Nothing strange here.
