The beginning of the thaw?

Whoa. Look what happened tonight.

Gracie lets Tig near her

I was rather surprised that Gracie neither growled nor swatted Tig away.

Mind you, she does that a lot, and she did it a few minutes later when Tig got a little too forward (by that time she was in the kitchen and he had followed her). But I think there’s hope that she may eventually learn to live in peace with him.

Well, until he wants to play and she doesn’t. That’s what Tig 2 used to do to annoy her. In the meantime, this weekend, we had nose-to-nose, and sharing a sofa cushion. And that’s Gracie’s sofa cushion. The one Sarah is calling “The Dent.” She stayed for a few minutes. That’s progress.

Oh, sweet! Could peace break out soon?

What happens if they’re lying close together like that and you pet them both at the same time?

  2. John M Says:

    They’re soooo kyooot together.

Well, I spent a lot of time petting Gracie there to encourage her to ease off Tig. But I’ve been able to pet them both at once. Gracie isn’t jealous. She just doesn’t want to share her space with another cat.

T3 looks lonely in this picture, he probably remembers his litter mates, and thinks of Gracie as a big sister.
Hope they can become “friends” one day!

He had just woken up, and I guess he wanted kitty companionship, not human.

I suspect he thinks of Gracie more as a mom and doesn’t understand why she won’t act like one.

  6. Mog Says:

That’s adorable, détente, and getting to pet both kitties at once is a plus.

  7. Morton A. Goldberg, DVM Says:

Odds are that before too much longer, they’ll be inseparable.
