Sorry to hear it.

It's probably way too late to organize something in Richmond for tomorrow, but maybe next year.

But on the plus side, if I'm eating at home, I can have a kosher hamburger.

Elisson: it's really a custom, not an obligation. The custom comes from the Talmudic line "there is no happiness except with meat and wine". This line refers specifically to the Temple sacrifices, not a general principle. By custom, we apply the phrase to our Shabbat meals, but it's not an obligation. A vegetarian does not violate any laws by choosing to not eat meat on Shabbat.

As far as I know, the only actual obligation to eat meat is the Passover sacrifice, which (obviously) can't be brought until the Temple is rebuilt.

Hey, I feel your pain. I commute to Fairfax from Stafford everyday. Sometime the idea of driving to Fredericksburg is too much for me...

Whatever you decide.

Sabba's got a point.

It's a Jewish religious obligation to eat meat on Shabbat, so IEATAPETA Day is not just a fun way to stick it in PETA's eye, it's a Mitzvah!

Now that dailight "savings" time is here, it is too late to go all that way. Besides, the Shabbat meals should be sufficient.
