One of the virtues of the Iraq Campaign is that it helped to show lots of people just what kind of scum the Jihadists really were. Their torture chambers, cutting off smokers’ fingers, and other transgressions, has made religious fanaticism and the jihadists quite unpopular in Iraq and elsewhere.

Him: “The War for Terror only causes more terrorism. Every time we kill a terrorist, two more rise to take their place.”

Me: “From where?”

Him: “What do you mean, ‘from where?’”

Me: “Unless someone has gravely mutilated the laws of physics, living terrorists don’t just rise up from the sands of the desert. Unless there have been major breakthroughs in biotech, humans don’t spawn from the remnants of their parents’ corpses. So where do these new terrorists come from?”

Him: “From the ranks of the poor, dumb@ss! Killing terrorists makes peaceful moderate Muslims take up arms, just like you jarheads took up arms after 9/11!” (Note: I’ve never served in the military, let alone the Marines; his words, not mine.)

Me: “Then we’d better get busy killing those peaceful moderate Muslims.”

Him: “WHAT THE F*CK?” (yes, he actually yelled that)

Me: “If what you say is true, then these peaceful moderate Muslims are actually a two hundred percent reliable resource from which terrorists may rebuild their numbers at will. Thus, if we are ever going to end the attacks, we’ll have to start by killing all the peaceful Muslims, before they inevitably turn into terrorists.”

Him: “YOU’RE F*CKING CRAZY! WHAT WOULD YOU THINK IF TERRORISTS STARTED KILLING PEACEFUL AMERICANS?!”

Me: “Isn’t that what they did on 9/11?”

He left early that day, and hasn’t attended a class since.
