Meryl,
I don't know if Tig (or Gracie for that matter) are on special diets, but if you run across 'Tiki Cat' (brand) 'Ahi tuna' (flavor) cat food pick up a can or two and see how they like it. After the pet food scare last summer it came out with top marks. My cat - who normally shows zero interest in tuna - goes nuts for it, so it's super-primo bribe material. I'm kind of tempted to try it myself ;-)

I would point out to you that China is known as The People's Republic of China. Just because the word "Republic" is in a country's name, it doesn't make them a republic.

Then I'm good. I do remember Who created Tig. And say thanks for nearly eleven great years.
Tig got his first dose of at-home sub-q fluids. Sarah was great. Tig started growling and hissing about halfway through. So I brought out the bribe: Sheba tuna cat food. My coworker, Cher, gave me a can of Sheba cat food as a holiday gift for Tig. He loves the stuff, and I've bought more. It's working to get his phosphor binder in him, too.
A great big yay all around today.

According to the Ailurolover Rebbe, adoration of cats is perfectly permissible as long as one remembers Who created them.

Funny you should mention that... I've been doing a lot of research lately, into idolatry and its social implications. So far, I've come to the conclusion that, in order to achieve peak function in society, people must not only believe in a god of some sort, but it's also critical that this god not actually exist. If God did exist, worship of Him would generate a cult of personality, rather than a religion, with all the implications thereof.
So I'd have to say that worshipping any living thing is, if not technically idolatry, at least not a good idea. Worshipping other people is the most immediately dangerous, while the classic definition of idolarty - worship of inanimate images - results in the greatest short term benefit, but an exponentially more catastrophic failure mode in the long term.
