The only time the UN actually did anything (as opposed to passing resolutions that get ignored, and charging lots of money for the privilege) was run the Korean War. And we know what a fiasco that was - we were forbidden from actually trying to win it, guaranteeing that the fight would be as bloody and drawn-out as possible.
And as the ultimate statement of what the UN stands for, that war never ended. It's still on. We've been living with an extended cease-fire for all these years, but without any actual resolution of the actual problems, and without either side declaring an end to hostilities.

The day that Israel gets its turn as President of the Security Council will be the day that the U.N. is actually a valid organization. Of course that will only happen after the Mashiach announces who he is appointing as Israeli ambassador to the organization.

“;We expect it to act fairly and without prejudice to all the nations in the UN, including Israel,'” he added.
And I expect Lucy lawless to show up on my doorstep asking if she can come up and get out of these wet clothes.
Our expectations are approximately of equal likelihood.
