Your theory may be correct, but knowing the reason merely excuses not standing up to the problem, it doesn’t address it. The fact is that Islam’s claim to the Temple Mount is based on belief in their faith, whereas Israel’s claim is based on secular arguments. Israel is in the midst of a spiritual battle for the Temple Mount but is using secular weapons to wage it. It won’t work, as we are seeing right now.

Actually, I think it has deeper roots. I think centuries of being beaten down in other people’s countries, never being accepted, constantly being attacked and murdered for the “crime” of being Jewish, has given too many Jews a perpetual refusal to stand up for themselves and their rights. We don’t put ourselves forward, even in Israel, because we have been beaten down so many times.

At least, that’s my theory. Centuries of learned behavior can’t be overturned in a few short decades.

When was the last time you heard an Israeli Jewish government official, UN ambassador, etc., or even a Jewish “man-in-the-street” stand up and say that Israel’s claim to jurisdiction of the Temple Mount is based first and foremost on the authority of the Tanach? I won’t criticize Majadele for saying what he did, he’s acting on his beliefs, but I do criticize all Jews who refuse to fight for Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria based on their Biblical beliefs. Israel is in a spiritual battle with Islam, but refuses to battle on spiritual terms, and that is why Israel is losing. It’s almost as if Israel is ashamed of the G-d of Israel, or perhaps it is a lack of belief?
