Mazel tov! If you are happy and the price is right, then go for it. Make sure you do a BBB search on the builder (and be sure to look carefully into "resolved" complaints-- BBB tends to mark everything resolved after a period of time).

There are a lot of good deals out there in this market, but the best deal is the house you love.

Jay, the first thing I did was call the folks at the condo complex I'm interested in. If I buy one from then, it will be ready around May/June.

What I'm trying to decide is if I should stop looking. I sort of decided I want new construction. After I saw that condo, I decided I wanted single-floor living. There are only a couple of complexes like that in the Richmond area, and this one is far and away the best quality, best construction, nicest, and best-located community I've found. Plus, a friend of mine already lives there.

Some people tell me I should get a realtor and keep looking. But I've found the place I really, really, really like, and would frankly move in tomorrow if I could.

I'm trying to decide if I should keep looking or not. I've done a lot of research into new construction in Richmond. Once I eliminate townhouses (and stairs), there isn't a whole lot.

I hereby join the chorus of congrats!

I wish there was a Wegman's in my area, but having a TJ's close by mostly makes up for it.

Keep us posted; we'd love to come down for a visit!

I've been to Wegman's. The friends who tipped me off to the job opportunity live in NoVa, and have taken me to Wegman's, Trader Joe's, and a variety of restaurants. Plus they've helped me find kosher butcher shops, etc. I'm quite famliar with Rockville now.

I like the Royal Dragon. Maybe a lunch there on a Sunday that I'm not teaching. During winter break, perhaps.

Ah, I see. Telecommuting rules.

I'm with David. If you ever have a NoVA party, count me in. I'll see if I can get Meredith to come, too (she's singing in the Temple choir now, and I'm currently trying to figure out if they let goyim on the technology committee :) ). I recommend Wegman's. (What? You had better things to do in college than hang out at a grocery store?)

Congratulations. And if you'd ever like to get together (along with any other NoVA residents here) on one of your trips north, just say the word.
