Ed, do not make the mistake of gradual escalation. Cut off everything but water all at once: electricity, food, gas, money, anything that comes into Gaza. Go the whole hog, totus porcus. Allow anyone who wants to leave via Egypt to do so, except the terrorists (Hamas, Fatah, Islamic Jihad, the Farfour Martyr of Allah Brigades, whatever). Kill them.

This is the gentle option. Personally, I’d raze Gaza from one end to the other, and let the shrapnel fall where it may.

I understand the idea of responding in a way that doesn’t alienate allies and negotiating partners.

I wish our allies would understand that our enemies will not respond to restraint and must be destroyed instead.

I wish our negotiating partners would bring results to the table and not just demands.

The idea of releasing prisoners is inane. They don’t appreciate their freedom. They just exult in beating the Jews out of something, getting a concession. Giving concessions in return never occurs to them.

Too bad if an IDF incursion harms Gazans. Gazans harm Israelis every day. Start off easy: cut the power. See if they take the hint.

We’d “exercise restraint” all OVER Mexico.
