Ahmadinejad: Real-life Looney Tune

Our pal Mahmoud Ahmadinejad would probably be living in a rubber room had he been born in the U.S. Here’s a sample of his latest nuttiness:

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has sought to justify his confidence the United States will not attack Tehran, saying the proof comes from his mathematical skills as an engineer and faith in God, the press reported on Monday.

[…] “In some discussions I told them ‘I am an engineer and I am examining the issue. They do not dare wage war against us and I base this on a double proof’,” he said in the speech on Sunday, reported by the reformist Etemad Melli and Kargozaran newspapers.

“I tell them: ‘I am an engineer and I am a master in calculation and tabulation.

“I draw up tables. For hours, I write out different hypotheses. I reject, I reason. I reason with planning and I make a conclusion. They cannot make problems for Iran.'”

Q.E.D. We’re done. Ahmadinejad has the proof, and dammit, he’s an engineer, he doesn’t play one on TV! And besides that, he has a secret weapon:

The deeply religious president said his second reason was: “I believe in what God says.”

“God says that those who walk in the path of righteousness will be victorious. What reason can you have for believing God will not keep this promise.”

This is true, but he’s talking about the wrong God, and the wrong promises. Oh. And the wrong path of righteousness. But he’s an engineer! He calculated carefully and got the answer: The U.S. will not attack Iran. Boy, would I love to get a hold of those hypotheses. Now that would be comedy gold.

I guess it depends on the audience, Meryl. Most Iranians, Iraqis and Saudis are illiterate. Those societies are barely above the stone age, and they’re probably very impressed with his “arguments.” Of course, there’s a lot of people in American society that are just as stupid, hence the popularity of the National Enquirer and the World Weekly News…

I don’t mean to strike any political nerves here….

But he is PROBABLY certain that a certain political party will be able to buy the most—-, I mean win the election in America.

I’m neither republican or democrat, I’m a libertarian. So I’m a man without a country OR a government. Just a wonderful idea that went astray ALONG time ago.

But I doubt the democrats will want anything to do with war. I’ll bet all the tea in Israel that ALL these muslim extremist nations are praying night and day that a democrat wins.

Then they’ll have at least 4 years to stock up their war chests…..

    Sad really.

    Long Rifle,
They’d do better to pray that the Packs win in ’08. The Democrats, have no idea how to make war (Clinton needed a Pack for SecDef since no Dem knew anything about the job, not that the Pack he chose was much good). Thus when the jihadi terrorists strike us again, and the Dems realize it’s strike back or hang from a lamppost, they are likely to nuke the Muslim world at random.

One of the reasons I supported Bush’s strategy is that any alternative to stimulating consensual government in place of jihadi takeovers is liable to be even more difficult and bloody than the present strategy. Most of the blood will be Muslim. George Bush and the dreaded Neocons are the Muslims’ best friends.
