As to La Streisand, she can do those lushly arranged “love me love me” songs well enough, but can you imagine hearing her, even at her best, take on “I Got Rhythm?” And if you ever need your hair curled, see if you can dig out the old “Classical Barbra” record and see in painful detail what her limitations were. She couldn’t carry Tebaldi’s or de los Angeles’s jockstrap.

By the way, neither could she carry Garland’s or, say, Peggy Lee’s.

I’m with you on Jackie Chan, although I’m waiting for “Rush Hour 3″ to come to the second-run movie house.
