This is a Zionist blog, take two

Every so often, some Israel-hating moron finds this blog via a search for something to do with Israel and Jews. The neo-Nazis come out from time to time as well. There are a legion of David Duke defenders out there who apparently Google Duke’s name every single day, and think it is their job in life to defend the convicted felon/neo-Nazi. In fact, I won’t be the least bit surprised to find a comment for this post waiting for me in the moderation queue tomorrow, doing just that.

It boggles my mind that these anti-Zionists and Jew-haters arrive at my blog and leap to the same conclusion: At last, they think, a blog filled with Zionists simply begging to be taught the error of their ways! And I’m just the one to show them!

The anti-Zionists/Jew-haters then completely ignore the commenting policy, which would have led them to the No Israel-Bashing Zone post (and also an explanation of why I laugh at their claims of censorship), and simply go against the current. I suppose they expect a riveting battle of wits against us nasty Zionists, who will then stand back in awe at the anti-Zionist’s astonishing verbal maneuvers, smack ourselves in the forehead and say, “What have we been thinking all this time? Of course, you’re right! Israel bad! Palestinians good!”

Uh, no. Not gonna happen, not now, not ever.

You see, the thing is, I absolutely do not give a crap about what the Israel-haters think of me or my commenting policy. I don’t care what they think about Israel. I don’t care what they think about what I think about Israel. And I don’t care in the least about getting their opinions on my weblog. In fact, I prefer not to have their garbage cluttering up my comments. Let the charges of echo chambers rebound off the virtual walls. I simply don’t give a shit what a Jew-hater thinks, and rest assured, these people are Jew-haters, almost without exception. The proof, as they say, is in the pudding. Because as these people find they are not allowed to post their comments, they get angrier and angrier, and the comments get more and more angry—or I should say, honest—and the real Jew-hatred comes out. That’s when I assign their IP address to the blacklist and spam filters, and stop seeing their comments at all.

It’s an act played out over and over again, until the Jew-hater finally gives up. It’s usually a behind-the-scenes show that I rarely share with my readers. But every once in a while, some asshole keeps trying long enough that he gives me post fodder again. I supposed I should thank them, but then, I don’t thank anti-Semites. I wish on them what they wish on me and mine.

It is time once again for a chorus of the Yourish.com mantra: Anti-Semites of the world, just die already. Quicker is better.

  1. Gary Rosen says:

Anti-Semitism isn’t about Jews, it’s about anti-Semites. They are whiners and losers who don’t have the gumption to own up to their own shortcomings and failures, so they blame it all on the Jooooos.

Case in point: Jimmy Carter. He had double-digit inflation, bungled the Iranian hostage crisis, and went on TV to blame the American people for his “malaise”. Then after getting booted out of office he and his flunkies blamed his loss on some Jews who voted for John Anderson, even though the sterotypical “Reagan Democrat” was a blue-collar Catholic.

Now I have a confession to make. I actually *voted* for that anti-Semitic creep in 1980. None of my other votes for Democrats make me feel so embarrassed and ashamed – Clinton and Gore don’t come close.

  2. mrkinnc says:

Can you get their location from the IP addresses? Might make a nice map of Jew-hatred.

  3. Yes, but that would be an awful lot of trouble to go through to find out something I already know: They’re everywhere. The current schmuck is from New York. I’ve had more than a few from Canada and Europe, and plenty from the Middle East.

And they nearly all go for the Jew-hatred when they find their comments aren’t posted. Really wipes the veneer off their anti-Zionist facade.

And yet, I never lose the enjoyment of pissing off yet another Jew-hater. Then again, I also contribute to what the Jew-haters hate the most: Bringing more Jews into the world. I teach little Jews to become big Jews. I teach them to love being Jewish, to take pride in their heritage, and to love Israel. And I get them when they’re perfectly malleable, in fourth grade.

Yep. Raising a whole new generation of Zionists, one class at a time. That is my best answer to Jew-hatred.

  4. Bert says:

Keep up the good work, Meryl. Maybe you ought to post some of theie anti-Zionist rants from time to time, just to keep us entertained.

Keep on teaching the kids as well. I can’t say it strongly enough that THAT is the most important job that you have.

  5. Meryl's Mom says:

“Bringing more Jews into the world?” Oy – don’t talk to me about “Bringing more Jews into the world!” When are you going to bring some more Jews into my world?

What ever happened to those “Mr. Meryl Yourish” posts? Those were my favorites!

  6. Elisson says:

Every time we get complacent and forget, someone will come along and remind us that we’re Jews. So we oughta save ’em the trouble.

    Great post, Meryl.

Your mom sounds like the Missus, who more and more is lamenting the dearth of grandchildren around here. I keep saying, “Be careful what you wish for.” Son-in-law first: then grandkids. Heh.

  7. That’s not really my mom. It’s a wiseass commenter. I think my mother has figured out that she’s not getting any grandchildren from me.

  8. Sabba Hillel says:

That may be but it is never too late to start. I am sure that there is someone out there for you. Besides, just think of the three of you sitting in the den entering your blogs together.

  9. Not-my-real-name says:

Meryl: Look. Too many Jewish people don’t bring new Jews into the world. Don’t be one of those.

    Here is my (Kosher!,) explanation.

First, my credentials. My wife and I don’t have kids. (For a reason.) 28 years now. Now trust me on this, we were once-upon-a-time young. I know, seems hard to believe.

Now, not having kids and liking kids, my wife and I decided to have a hobby in common. We became match-makers.

Today, six people exist in part because of our hobby. Two marriages. Six kids, total.

So, don’t forget what G*d said in the Garden: About being fruitful and multiplying. Why? Because you are Jewish this is pretty important.

The world needs more Jewish children who are proud of being Jews. Yes, I’m sure you already know that no Jew should be ashamed of being Jewish. And also, I am pretty sure that any child of yours will be plenty proud to be a Jew and to love G*d. (Which, after all, is one thing that being Jewish is about.) Remember, G*d made us for fellowship with him.

So help G*d out a little.

I do have one suggestion, and yes, I know that we are very different people, but still, do me this one favor and consider my suggestion.

Don’t make this choice on your own (you know, who your actual Mom is going to get as a son-in-law.) My suggestion; (And I mean this and yes I am completely and totally serious,) is to ask G*d for a little help.

Remember Issac. G*d didn’t shy away from helping to find a mate. And trust me, you’re no different, you’re important to G*d too.

    Oh yes, one more thing…

Over and over again, our Scriptures promote marriage and the people who care enough to get married. G*d didn’t make us walk away from his Creation as many claim — he’s very involved, and trust me, he’ll help you find the exact person.

Sometime, off-line, not for publication, I’ll tell you about my wife.

  10. Velvel in Decatur says:

Don’t let the bastards wear you down.
    Noli nothis permittere te terere.
If we spent more time doing what was necessary to make the momzerim like us we would get nothing done, including getting the momzerim to like us.
Now that the season is approaching (I think about that even with temps near 100 in Georgia), I remind myself that I am not looking for atonement from people so vile and vulgar as to wish me dead.

  11. Not-my-real-name says:

A Jew in Georgia! Wow. I mean, Atlanta, okay. But Decatur. Anyway…

Some people simply hate G*d and since they can’t get at him, the choose us.

In fact, I have never met an anti-semite who didn’t hate God.

But look, even just a little, and you’ll see that they hate themselves more than anyone else. Look at their habits. See. They hate being alive, they hate themselves for who they are. Or for what they’ve done. (Or for what they are doing.)

They hate God. And from that it’s a short trip to hating his handiwork.

So Velvel in Decatur, don’t expect a lot from such people. You’ll not get a lot.

  12. Velvel in Decatur says:

Whattayamean? There are over 110 000 Jews in the Atlanta area alone. And lots of shuls that lots of folk won’t attend. Just like everywhere else.
Having survived the Temple bombing in 1958 when I was a kid, I understand that.
The haters are a sad lot who never take a bit of responsibility for their lot. And they hate the folk who do.
    And when Moschiach comes….

  13. Interesting. One flip comment by a guy who might very well get a whup upside the head from me when we meet, and the thread turns into a Meryl-needs-to-get-married-and-have-babies thread.

I think I will pass on discussing what is, after all, an extremely personal matter. Personally.

  14. AG in Houston says:

    “…the thread turns into a Meryl-needs-to-get-married-and-have-babies thread.”

    Judaism in a nutshell.

  15. Not-my-real-name says:

You missed my point. Atlanta? Sure, lot’s of Jewish people. But not Decatur. That’s all I meant.

  16. Mark says:

    OK

Sorry if I step on toes. I am not Jewish, though I tend to be somewhat PRO Israel. I in no way think Israel can do no wrong, and if I disagree with an Israeli policy or action, I am not afraid to call them on it. I don’t consider that bashing Israel, but instead, simply an opinion. No person or country is perfect and people shouldn’t judge or pass judgment unless they can show examples or proof of a better solution, or at least have a reasonably well thought out solution to a problem.

With that said, I have several questions and several comments.

    1. I was not aware of J Carter being anti semitic or anti Israel. Could you please explain this to me? I was just a little teenybopper (teen ager) when he was president.

    2. What IS it with the apologist press and politicos for that matter? given that, I can in NO way condone many of the words or opinions of FOX news, no matter how PRO Israel their commentaries tend to be. They tend to be dishonest in too many ways. That’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it.

Now as for the babies thing. Is that something like my mother telling me I’m getting too heavy and not 5 minutes later asking me if I’d like her to make brownies? It happens almost every time she visits. And yes, my mother has also expressed sadness that I’ll never sire any grand children for her.

    sigh

I agree on the kitties…I tend to prefer them over dogs. Dogs are just waay too needy!

  17. Gary Rosen says:

    Mark,

I did not start to really despise Carter as an antisemite until I saw him on TV once being interviewed by Bill Moyers, about 15-20 years ago but long after he had left office.

First he started piously berating American Jews for not being more sympathetic to the Palestinians and critical of Israel. Never mind the fact that the people he was talking about, my parents generation, had lived through the Holocaust and viewed Israel as a vital sanctuary for the world’s Jews. And the fact that the face the Palestinians had chosen to present to the world up to that time was represented by the Munich Olympic massacre and the Achille Lauro hijacking.

But not even that truly revealed the depth of Carter’s hatred of Jews. He then started referring to the Jews as “the Chosen People”, his voice and expression dripping with sneering contempt and derision. I hope the Secret Service doesn’t come after me for saying this, but I wanted to stick my hand through the TV screen and throttle the little Jew-hating bastard. I couldn’t believe that a former President of the United States was spouting off like David Duke or Louis Farrakhan.

  18. Mark says:

    Wow, I never realized.

I lived in Israel for a summer archaeological dig back in 1983. Here’s what I concluded at THAT time after meeting both Jews and Palestinian Arabs. Back then, MOST of the Palestinians living on the West Bank wanted to become full citizens of Israel. Not a country where Israel is, bu citizens OF Israel. reasons for this were predominantly that Israel was a Democracy and that in just 15 years of *occupation* they had gone from some of the poorest people in the middle east to having more freedoms AND a higher standard of living than most people in the region. Also, when Israel took control of the West Bank there were still refugee camps in sad shape. Israel actually worked to resettle those refugees in much better housing and provided jobs and a better economic base.

Interesting how extremists seemed to change that almost overnight.

What do you other readers and writers here attribute that change to and, what solutions do you see that either or both sides of this issue can institute that would work for the betterment of both?

On another note. Read a pretty long article on the Sudanese refugees. While it mentioned Israel and the *debate* over the refugees going on in Israel, this was but a brief paragraph. The majority of the article detailed hoe the refugees were shot in the backs and heads by egyptian border guards, along with several other paragraphs outlining issues in Egypt..the demonstration where Egyptian police killed 20+ people, etc.

    Mark-

OK folks, there is an interesting ebate happening on mainetoday.com. It’s a letter to the editor claiming Israel is the obstacle to peace with the Palestinians.

If you get a sec point your browsers there and read You have to join as a member in order to pot a response. I just posted a pretty lengthy response outlining some of the history and realities the letter to the editr decided to omit, and clarified some clear falsehoods.

    Mark-
