I am home. I am tired. I am going to watch Scrubs, get Tig inside, and go to bed.

I bought a new digital camera. It takes mpeg4 movies.

There will be kitty movies, perhaps as soon as tomorrow.

In the meantime, feel free to talk amongst yourselves while I pose a question: If it’s called the fast lane, why are there so many morons in it who can’t seem to tell that there are people driving faster than they are?

A meeting with Mubarak, head of the nation that wants to negate its treaty with Israel.

Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni held talks Thursday with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in the first high-level discussion between Israel and the Arab world on an Arab initiative calling for an exchange of land for peace.

Love the way the AP describes the initiative. It takes them most of the article to truthfully describe the plan.

The Arab initiative calls for full Arab recognition of Israel in return for an Israeli withdrawal from territories captured in the 1967 Middle East War and the creation of a Palestinian state. It also calls for a “just solution” to the issue of Palestinian refugees.

Israel rejects the right of return for refugees, on the grounds it would destroy Israel’s character as a Jewish state.

That, and it would utterly destroy Israel. But don’t let facts in the way of playing down Israel’s concerns.

“The Arab peace initiative is a historic chance and if we don’t move, there would be nothing to negotiate on,” King Abdullah of Jordan was quoted as saying in an interview published Thursday in the Egyptian daily Al-Ahram.

Actually, it’s exactly the same deal that you’ve been asking for (and were offered long ago) for forty years, sans Jerusalem. Or at least, the Western Wall part of it. “Negotiation” means each side actually gives something up. This plan gives up nothing from the Arab side.

Color me unsurprised.

It’s a travel/work day, as I head up to Northern VA to take a meeting, work on some things, and probably have dinner with friends. Oh, and stop to buy some kosher food, of course. Have to remember my cooler.

Posting will be lightish.

Bishara talks to Israeli press

Bishara is giving interviews. I cannot wait to hear the evidence against this guy.

Former MK Azmi Bishara mocked the treason allegations against him in his first interview with the Israeli press since his abrupt departure from the country in April.

Yedioth Ahronoth reporter Assa’ad Telhami met with the former MK in Jordan on Thursday, where he was given the opportunity to tell his side of the story directly to the Israeli public.
“What intelligence information could I have? If anything, Hizbullah could sell me information,” Bishara said.

Bishara refuted claims of his suspected role in directing Hizbullah rockets during the Second Lebanon War.

“In the conversation that they recorded, I said, ‘How come the rockets are falling on Arab villages? We understand that as far as Hizbullah is concerned, it is targeting Haifa, so why fire at Arab villages, what’s going on here?’ That was the daily small talk every single Arab had at the time. That’s what they call handing Hizbullah information?”

If he’s so innocent, why did he a) Resign from the Knesset and b) Flee the country?

That’s right, I forgot. He’s being persecuted for his opinions.

“If I tell a friend, a Lebanese reporter, ‘Listen, there are rumors that some sort of operation by Hizbullah was foiled during the war. All the journalists are saying it, they just haven’t published it yet.’ Is that disclosing information? Shin Bet views the Lebanese reporters I spoke to as foreign agents.

I think, once again, we have to mention the evidence against him. His own words.
