Say, about that quid pro quo

Turns out there was, after all.

The White House involvement in the hostages’ release has been confirmed. When the crisis broke, the US and Iraqi governments offered to help. Several initiatives were under way before the release, allowing officials to say that developments were coincidental.

First came the release last Tuesday of Jalal Sharafi, an Iranian diplomat missing in Iraq since February. A US administration source said he had been in a joint Iraqi and American facility, though this was denied by a British source.

On Wednesday the Red Cross was granted access to five Iranians who were detained by US forces in January in Iraq. Iran’s President Mah-moud Ahmadinejad announced the same day that the British captives could go home.

Hoshyar Zebari, the Iraqi foreign minister, said yesterday that he was pressing the Americans to release the five Iranian detainees, or at least to transfer them to Iraqi custody.

Why yes, I did say that several days ago.

If they are turned over to the Iraquis, there may be an “accident” before they are released so that they will no longer be terrorists.

That would be nice but I doubt it. At that point the Iraqis will be starting to suck up to Iran in the desperate hope of saving something from the wreck when the Democrats force the US to cave in and bug out of Iraq, just as we did in Vietnam. Evidently the blood on their hands from the massacres and refugees from South Vietnam and Cambodia is not enough for the Dems, they want fresh hecatombs of victims from Iraq.

Osama was right, the US is too decadent to fight even in its own defense. We are a treacherous friend and a toothless foe, lacking the willpower to use our power to fight our enemies who are determined on our destruction.

Do the Dems really think they can get away with this evil and shortsighted treachery without discrediting democracy not only around the world, but here in the USA as well? Do they even care?

Don’t blame the Democrats. Remember, there are enough voters to put them there…
