Cutting straight to the point

Red, white, and Gracie

My mother has been visiting since last Thursday, and one of the consequences was that Gracie’s tissue-paper nest was tossed out (it was old, anyway), and there was no replacement for the last week.

Until tonight, after Mom left, when I looked over at the empty sofa and realized that it needed something on it. Something—orange. So I went in search of some new tissue paper for Gracie, found a little bit of color, put it on the sofa, and called her over. She leaped up, rolled a few times, got a bellyrub, and mrowed happily before purring mightily and settling down.

And here is what she looked like a little later, after a nap. (She’s rustling happily around in the paper as I type this.)

Gracie in her new nest

Gracie is a very happy girl tonight.
