Now at the risk of sounding facetious about a terrible matter, you'd think that between the ban on wine and the punishment of adultery by death the French, of all people, would be motivated to resist Islamic domination with all their power.

Robert,
In the case of Sadia Idriss Fadul the article says "The male accused in Fadul's case was let off because there was not enough evidence against him. Witnesses are usually required to gain a conviction and forensic tests are not normally used in such cases."
Bear in mind that in cases of rape four men must testify that it was rape to prove the charge against the rapist. If four men can't be found to testify then there is not enough evidence to convict. Then the woman who brought the charge risks being charged with fornication or adultery. The article does not say that was what happened in this case, but it could be. That would explain the "lack of evidence." But even if she is guilty of adultery, as Rahel says it is disgusting to punish adultery with death.

To make matters worse, the women are most probably innocent. But even if they're not -- heck, even if they were caught in bed with the other guys and proclaimed their willingness to be there to the arresting officers -- it's still horrific and disgusting beyond words.

I am just amazed at the way CAIR and other muslim apologist groups will toss aside a report like this say, in all smugness, how women are "respected" and "venerated" in Islam.

But of course it is Israel, of all counties, that gets singled out for "violations" of women's rights.

Funny but I am reading a book about the late 19th century wars in the Sudan between the British and the jihadis there. The Sudan has got to be one of the most God forsaken lands in the world.

This is horrible and I agree - this does not happen in Christianity or Judaism.
