I don't declaw here in the U.S. In fact, I decided there would be only one reason to ever declaw a cat---if I have young children in the house and the cat is scratching them and can't be trained out of it.

Lucky for Tig, I have no kids.

Ah, then he grabs you with his front paws while pushing you away with his back ones I would imagine. Vets don't declaw here in the UK, it may even be illegal. Many is the time that I have been kitty ripped:)

Well, if he's in the mood, you're golden. But if he suddenly decides that enough is enough---he's not declawed. And he's a bit unpredictable these days. Getting meaner as he gets older. Not very Maine Coon-like, I'm told.

I just want to tickle him! I've not stroked a cat since my last one 'passed' two years ago, and I'm suffering serious withdrawal symptoms.

Bookmistress: Actually, yes. There are a few of him looking very regal, what with his Maine Coon cat ruff.

I'll post one of those next. I got a great one last week. It's winter fur time, so he's looking even bigger than usual.

By the way, he was sleeping like that. Asleep. Totally.
