Vet question

I’m trying to find another vet that performs endoscopies in the Richmond, VA area. I know of two clinics that will charge me well over $1,000. Can’t afford that.

Does anyone know how I can find out which vets in my area perform endoscopies?

  1. The Doctor Says:

We had similar issues with our puddies; have you contacted Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care in Goochland? They have veterinary subspecialists and if you haven’t contacted them it’s worth getting an estimate…

$1400. To start. Not counting anything but the procedure. If that’s VRCC. Yeah, it’s probably about the same.

I made an appointment with a second vet today, recommended by my manager. I’m going to see what he thinks we should do.

Hi Meryl– I don’t know whether these links will help, but 1) the first link explains what’s involved in feline endoscopy (anesthesia, bowel prep, etc.) which clued me in as to why the procedure is so pricey. 2) a link to a sample itemized vet bill for an endoscopy (dog in this case) that I found on the website of a manufacturer of veterinary endoscopes. It has examples of high, average, and low price ranges, which might help you evaluate estimates you receive from vets in your area.

Hope all goes well for you and Gracie– we’re all still pulling for you here.
