Gracie update

She’s at the vet’s, probably with an IV in her little paw. She got sick several times during the night, and is exhausted and bedraggled. The vet is taking bloodwork. She’s concerned that Gracie is at the age where things start to shut down, not that there’s a blockage in her stomach or intestines. She says it might be something as simple as her thyroid. Which means both Gracie and I will have had a thyroid panel this week. (I had mine done over the weekend.)

Raise hands, anyone else who has had their thyroid checked around the same time as their cat’s.

I’m heading off to work soon. Can’t afford to lose any hours. The e-vet bill was close to $300, and I’m guessing today’s vet’s bill will be at least two hundred. Not a good time for me, what with having missed a month’s work between jobs in July.

Here’s hoping whatever is wrong with Gracie is fixable.

  1. I’m hoping as well, and let me know when I need to post a fundraising drive on COTC, Catcall, and IFOC.

God speed to you and Gracie…may she recover quickly.

    Meryl:

Did you ask the vet to look for half-digested toothpicks?

  4. I’m adding Gracie to the Cat Blogosphere news. Kat already posted her on the Pet Prayer & Praise Blog.

    We’re all praying & purr-raying for her.

  5. Rahel says:

Continued prayers for Gracie’s recovery from here.

  6. Just got a call… pancreatisis or something like that, Gracie on IV drip for a while. Seven hours since last barf, vet says very good outlook, will stay overnight and see from there.

  7. Herschel says:

Hope all is well with Gracie! I know exactly how you feel, I have a 17 year old Siamese katz that is also very special.

  8. Thanks for the update, I posted it on the Cat Blogosphere & the Pet Prayer & Praise blog.

I have a 16.5 year old mini poodle (thinks she’s a cat), I know what it’s like to have a “senior pet”.
