Jewish anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism

A new book, reviewed:

Even as their distance from Jewish values demonstrates that they are not legitimate heirs of the Jewish prophets, their role in providing cover for anti-Semitism cannot be dismissed or underestimated. The only Jew anti-Semites can tolerate in their midst is a Jew who has abandoned all the vestiges of Judaism and shows no traces of identification with the Jewish people. Promoting the abandonment of Judaism has always been high on the agenda of Jew-haters: From conversion to assimilation, no version of anti-Jewish sentiment has ever left the Jews with the option of defining their own identity on their own terms. If they wanted to survive, they had to accept what the outside world wanted them to be. And even as our age celebrates cultural diversity and religious freedom, the Jews are nonetheless barred from defining themselves in national terms. Some Jewish intellectuals, therefore, embrace anti-Zionism in order to become accepted in their liberal and progressive circles, where hatred for Israel is most rampant.

And this is highly convenient for the anti-Semites. It is no coincidence that the accusation that Israel was “born in sin” — on account of its responsibility for the birth of the refugee problem — has recently gained much currency in the West. For decades, Palestinian propaganda made that charge, with little success. But once Israeli historian Benny Morris came along and coined that “born in sin” expression, the charge gained credibility: This was an Israeli Jew, after all, with all the academic apparatus and footnotes. (The charge itself, I am at pains to point out, is still as false as it ever was. In The Jewish Divide, Efraim Karsh exposes the farrago of distortions and fabrications still peppering Morris’s work even after Morris took Israel’s side after October 2000.)

New era of anger management

The term anger management commonly refers to a system of psychological therapeutic techniques and exercises by which one with excessive or uncontrollable anger can control or reduce the triggers, degrees, and effects of an angered emotional state.

This (and more) is what Wiki has to say on this fascinating subject. I have stressed the word “one”. The meaning is clear - the whole procedure is geared to take care of an individual, who may have some issues with outbursts of anger (rage).

Some people took the idea further, aiming to apply it to a whole bunch of people. In this case, all followers of Islam. Quite a big bunch, I can tell.

When the Qatari Islamic scholar Yusuf al-Qaradawi called for a Day of Rage this Friday in response to Pope Benedict XVI’s remarks about Muslims, it might have sounded like a call for street violence.

Violence? Mr al-Qaradawi and violence could not be further apart! The fact that the scholar supports suicide bombing is just another aspect of his specialty, which is anger management. After all, what is better than suicide bombing in both expressing anger and cooling off?

But if there is trouble Friday, and there could well be, it will not be because of language but because of what some people choose to do after they have answered the call for “Yaum al Ghadab.”

Definitely not, if there is trouble it will be, as usual, due to misinterpretation of peaceful teachings of the learned scholar, his colleagues and Kuran. Continue reading the ABC article, it is so full of it, it fairly squeaks. Just to mention this:

A day of rage does not mean a day of jihad (war), added Gerges.

I distinctly remember long passages on jihad explaining to us, infidels, that jihad is not a war, but a peaceful conquest of souls… Now it is a war again. Some people will bend every which way to explain the unexplainable and to justify the unspeakable.

But back to anger management and Wiki:

In modern society, anger is viewed as an immature or uncivilized response to frustration, threat, violation, or loss. Conversely, keeping calm, coolheaded, or turning the other cheek is considered more socially acceptable. This conditioning can cause inappropriate expressions of anger, such as uncontrolled, violent outbursts or misdirected anger, or, at the other extreme, repressing feelings of anger (or lacking them altogether) when those feelings would be an appropriate response to the situation. Also, anger that is constantly “bottled up” can lead to persistent violent thoughts or nightmares, or even physical symptoms like headaches, ulcers, ohypertensiveon.

We certainly don’t want the Muslim folks to bottle up their anger and develop headaches, ulcers, or hypertension. So here comes a proposal that takes our learned Mr. al-Qaradawi’s idea one step further. And what a step!

We propose that from now on, one hour every day, one day per week and one week each month be allocated for rage. Different activities will be associated with each of this three periods:

  1. The Rage Hour will be dedicated to beating life-size effigies of various enemies of Islam by a baseball bat. This activity will be performed at the place of work/study/hiding in a cave from various authorities.
  2. The Rage Day will consist of various outdoor activities, such as shouting “Kill the infidels!” and other exciting slogans, running around waiving guns, shooting in the air, burning the effigies (see item 1) that became unusable.
  3. The Rage Week will be spent in a fun and sporty exercise “Hide The Infidel”. An infidel, kidnapped for the purpose, will be hidden by one team in a place of its choosing and the other team’s mission will be to find him (her). During the week the infidel should be transferred to several different places without the other team noticing. At the end of the Rage Week the infidel will be allowed to go, but not before converting to Islam.

We are confident that this system will be able to resolve most of the residual anger issues. In special cases and upon a dispensation from a trained Imam, a permission to vent the anger in a more direct way shall be given to the person in question. An explosive belt and a secluded location will be provided for the ultimate in anger management.

Don’t Worry - Be Happy!

Jewish leaders to Ahmadinejad: Eff you

I like this:

WASHINGTON – Jewish leaders who were invited to listen to a speech by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday at the Council on Foreign Relations research institute in New York, expressed their astonishment over the invitation sent to them, which they rejected with contempt.

Anti-Defamation League National Director Abraham H. Foxman told Ynet that he had no plans to attend such a meeting.

According to Foxman, this is also the stance of the Jewish leaders he spoke to.

I was invited to meet the Iranian president and I refused, he said, adding that the Jews had no choice but to let him speak at the UN, as it is part of an agreement according to which each “despicable and monstrous” head of state has the right to come there.

But what does he have to say at the Council on Foreign Relations that we haven’t already heard, Foxman asked. If Ahmadinejad had any regrets over his denial of the Holocaust and saying that Israel should be wiped off the map, Foxman suggested, he will be able to fix it at the UN speech.

American Jews will be protesting Monkey Boy’s visit today in front of the UN. With shofars. If you’re in the New York area, go. I wish I could. I’d love to hear hundreds of shofarot (the proper term for them) sounding at once.

Iran’s President Ahmadinejad is planning to go to the UN.

Are you?

Gilad Shalit is still alive

And the palestinians will be getting hundreds, if not thousands, of prisoners released when they release him.

Israel on Wednesday night confirmed for the first time that a letter has been received from Gilad Shalit. Channel 2 reported that the letter, which was reported by Arab media in recent days, indeed exists and was received by Israel.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit expressed his optimism on Monday regarding the chances that Shalit would be released. In a meeting with Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni at the UN headquarters in New York, he said that he was very optimistic that it would happen within days.

“We will bring him,” he said.

Egypt’s President Hosni Mubarak also commented on the emerging deal for the kidnapped soldier’s release, and said that Israel may release more Palestinian prisoners than expected as part of the swap.

“The outlines of the agreement, which is not yet complete, affirm the release of the Israeli prisoner in exchange for an initial large batch of women and children and then the release of Palestinian prisoners in three batches,” the state news agency MENA said, quoting Mubarak speaking on Sunday night.

Of course, such a great result for kidnapping one soldier won’t encourage the terrorists to kidnap more.

Oh, wait. Yes, it will.

You know, when the terrorists insist on Israel releasing hundreds or thousands in exchange for one or two Israelis, even if they’re not alive, it isn’t Israel that is promoting the thought that one Israeli is worth a thousand palestinians. And yet, you will hear that blamed on Israel, too.

Mind you, one Gilad Shalit is worth a thousand terrorists, but that’s a different thought altogether. Well, it is to me, and to all rational people. But there are those that would argue with us.

I’m glad if Gilad makes it home. But the cost, as always, will be paid again in the future, for someone different.
