In your face, Mel Gibson: This video’s been making the rounds for a while, and yes, it is pretty funny. Denis Leary visited the Red Sox announcers during a ball game, and discovered that the first baseman, Kevin Youkilis, is Jewish. People keep crediting Leary for starting it, but it was the announcer who first mentions Gibson, and Leary riffs from there.
Jimmy Carter, un-American: Via Solly, Jimmy Carter slams Tony Blair as being “subservient” to George Bush. I have yet to hear Jimmy Carter use descriptions like this on leaders like, say, Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, or that scumbag who is leading Iran down the nuclear path (we call him Gorilla Boy in these parts).
“We now have a situation where America is so unpopular overseas that even in countries like Egypt and Jordan our approval ratings are less than five per cent. It’s a shameful and pitiful state of affairs and I hold your British Prime Minister to be substantially responsible for being so compliant and subservient.”
The outspoken attack by the former Democratic president shows the extent of the alienation between the Labour Party and its traditional Democrat allies in America.
Actually, it shows how vicious and un-statesmanlike the ex-president has become. The Telegraph can’t seem to see the forest for the trees.
Peacekeepers who hate: Wonderful. Israel dropped her objections to including Indonesian peacekeepers in Lebanon. Gee, having soldiers from a country that hates you won’t affect their attitudes at all, I’m sure. Count on me saying “I told you so” when we read about the Indonesian peacekeepers aiding and abetting Hezbullah attacks on Israel. Because it’s not like we don’t already know that UN peacekeepers are corrupt or anything.
Don’t visit Gaza, infidels: The terrorists who kidnapped and forced the two Fox News reporter to convert to Islam now say they’re going to continue targeting non-Muslims in Gaza or the West Bank. Well, duh. Nobody would give a crap if they kidnapped palestinians.
Palestinian militants who held two Fox News journalists hostage for nearly two weeks threatened in a statement posted online Saturday to abduct non-Muslims visiting the Palestinian territories and kill them unless their demands were met.
The statement, posted in the name of the Holy Jihad Brigades on a Web site frequently used by militants, said the group would kill any hostages it takes unless they converted to Islam, paid a ransom or Muslim prisoners were exchanged for their release.
“Any infidel blood will have no sanctity,” the group said in the statement.
Yeah, way to pass on that message that Islam is a peaceful religion, dudes.
Enjoy your day. I’m off to run errands, one of which includes getting the ingredients to make chicken soup. It’s a nice, cool day in Richmond, post-Ernesto, and I’m busy the rest of the weekend. Good timing, I say.
