I'm finding out that hardly nobody hires permanent help anymore. They hire contractors so they can get rid of you quick and easy if they don't like you. If you do a good job and the work is self-sustaining they'll offer to move you to full time. It's an interesting new dance that I've had to learn in the past year in the IT field.
