I blogged this article earlier, which quoted an Israeli Arab resident of Haifa as saying: "I hope Nasrallah gets a rocket between the legs for what he is doing to me here, for harming grandma and grandpa."
But that's only half the story, of course. The same man was equally angry at Israel for what he perceived as inadequate bomb shelters and warnings for Arab Israelis as compared to what was available in Jewish neighbourhoods. And while it's tempting to write that off as the chatter of a man angry and worried about injured relatives, it's part of a larger story and it would be wrong to sweep that under the rug, too.
Still, at least someone is blaming the guy lobbing the rockets for, you know, lobbing the rockets.

Haifa is such an integrated city. A liberal's dream come true. Arab and Israeli live and work, together, here.
I just wonder what happens next?
Why? Because most Israeli arabs are happy enough being Israeli. They feel safer than if they lived among the palestinians. Or in Jordan. Or Eygpt. But they're an odd lot. There's still the separation that occurs when they go to their mosques. And, they get haranged by their mullets.
When my mom was an American immigrant child, Jews and Italians also lived closed and intermingled. Not just on the Lower East Side, but in Coney Island, too. The Italians were the BEST customers. Many just hid what they heard at church. And, to this day, I don't know how this kind of split personality develops, but it does.
Sorry for the long post. But this comparison jumped out at me. Sorry, too, for the loss of life among Arabs, who are getting hit from their own kind. While the people doing it are just savages. Hope the Israeli Arabs can stay focussed on their benefits. Not these trials.
