Imagine a world without Israel

This is in response to this idiotic drivel by a person so naive, or stupid, one can’t help but wonder if qrswave needs assistance getting dressed in the morning. H/T: Dave.

Imagine a world without Israel.

qrswave: Muslims, Jews, and Christians could live in peace without fear of mutual destruction.

Meryl: Palestinian terrorist groups could live in relative peace (except for the inter-gang killings that break out from time to time) and operate with impunity, spreading jihad throughout the Middle East and beyond. Jews and Christians could live as second-class citizens in an Islamic theocracy, discriminated against and unable to worship freely, with the fear of constant destruction from the Islamic police.

qrswave: There would be no more need for US AID or justification for Dimona.

Meryl: There would be no more need for US AID, and Dimona, with all it entails, would be in Jihadi hands. Imagine 200 nuclear weapons controlled by Hamas, Hezbullah, and Islamic Jihad.

qrswave: We could bring down the Wall, send prisoners home, and families could be reunited.

Meryl: We could bring down the Wall, send prisoners home, and families could be reunited. Then we could send the experienced suicide bombers terrrorists into Western nations, blowing up commuters in New York, London, Chicago, Tokyo, Paris, and beyond, expanding the worldwide jihad until we live under one Islamic rule.

qrswave: We could dismantle checkpoints, open crossings, and pull down barbed wire fences.

Meryl: We could dismantle checkpoints, open crossings, and pull down barbed wire fences. Terrorists would pass unimpeded throughout what used to be Israel, planning the global jihad, training in methods of death and destruction, and exporting murder and destruction—just as they did in Afghanistan, Iraq, Sudan, and Pakistan.

qrswave: There would be no more settlements or armed settlers because the people would be united.

Meryl: There would be no more armed settlers because they would all have been murdered or driven out.

qrswave: We could replant trees and olive groves and rebuild battered cities.

Meryl: We could replant trees and olive groves and rebuild battered cities. But we probably wouldn’t, since we’d be spending our money on more explosives and weapons of mass destruction.

qrswave: No more suicide bombers or sniper fire, and no more dead civilians.

Meryl: No more suicide bombers or sniper fire, and no more dead civilians in Israel Palestine. We’d move our operations to Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Lebanon, killing in suicide attacks until we overthrow the current governments and establish an Islamic government in their place.

qrswave: No more targeted killings and hell-fire missiles, or systematic demolitions.

Meryl: No more targeted killings and hell-fire missiles, or systematic demolitions of palestinians. We would instead train our weapons at the West.

qrswave: Palestinians and Jews could live together and the world could address other issues.

Meryl: Palestinians and Jews could live together and the world could address other issues. Well, no, just kidding about that. Palestinians can live together. The Jews must go back to where they came from, or we will kill them—or both. Never mind the ones that have been in Israel for generations, and screw the descendants of the 700,000 Jews thrown out of Arab lands after 1948. They’re Europe’s problem, since Europe created Israel on palestinian land.

qrswave: What a simpler place this world would be if there was no need for a Jewish majority – where there would otherwise be none.

Is it so hard to imagine?

What a breathtaking ignorance of reality. Does Kos let high schoolers post now? Because this “World without Israel” post is astonishingly naive, on the level of a ninth grader who has discovered free verse about the same time she discovered the Middle East conflict. I’ve had deeper discussions with my fourth graders than the one that’s going on in the comments to this diary.

Imagine a world without idiots. Now that would be something.

    Dear Meryl:
I enjoyed your post, however “experienced suicide bomber” is mutually exclusive by definition.

    Meryl,

Y’know, covering news here, I all too often remind myself: “You can’t parody reality around here – because reality leaves parody far in the shade.”

And then I read this post. Damn.

I posted – SHEER PARODY, MIND YOU – exactly on this issue several days ago…

    Amen!

  4. david foster says:

I don’t hold out much hope for a world without idiots. But it *would* be nice if we could have a world in which one of our two major political parties didn’t choose to affiliate itself with a website which is in essence a coalition of idiots.

  5. Robert says:

How about we imagine a world without Dhimmis or Daily Kos…what a nice world that would be.

  6. Mark says:

    Meryl,

At times like this, I am torn in two. One one hand, I want to see Israel kick some serious jihadi ass, once and for all. On the other, I know they will suffer loss and I grief for them. Anyway, sign me one very pissed off proto-christian libertarian Zionist. Israel We are with you!

  7. Jay Tea says:

Not to be a nit-picker, Meryl — you know I love you — but I gotta bring up one thing:

“Then we could send the experienced suicide bombers into Western nations, blowing up commuters in New York, London, Chicago, Tokyo, Paris, and beyond, expanding the worldwide jihad until we live under one Islamic rule.”

How does exactly one become an “experienced” suicide bomber?

    Otherwise, brilliant work.

    J.

  8. You’re right, I should have said “experienced terrorists.” I’ll go do the strikethrough/fix.

  9. Sabba Hillel says:

    How about “experienced suicide recruiters”.

  10. Sabba Hillel says:

rswave: Muslims, Jews, and Christians could live in peace without fear of mutual destruction.

Muslims would live in peace near the Jewish and Christian cemetaries.

    population of Jerusalem

The total population reaches almost 40,000 in 1889: 25,000 Jews, 7,000 Moslems and 7,000 Christians.
In 1896, the population of Jerusalem reaches 45,300: 28,000 Jews; 8,700 Christian Arabs/Europeans; and 8,600 Moslem Arabs.

Maybe because they agree with the website’s message?

  14. Tatterdemalian says:

Where I live, there was a string of rapes committed by a man described by one of his victims as being “black, 6’3″ tall, heavyset, wearing a flowery Hawaiian shirt.” The most unusual thing about the “flower-shirt rapist” was that only that one victim went to the police; other victims tied to the rapist by DNA evidence refused to give descriptions of their attackers, and one who had been beaten into a three-day coma threatened to sue the police for collecting evidence from her without her consent. She later explained to a reporter her strange protectiveness toward the man who raped and beat her: “I refuse to be involved in sending another black man to prision.”

All the victims were black activists from either the Nation of Islam or the (New?) Black Panthers. The only victim who went to the police was banned from the NOI shortly after she did so.

Never underestimate the power of politically correct groupthink.

  15. Ted says:

To the best of my knowledge, there WAS a “world without Israel” between, roughly 70 AD and the re-establishment of a sovereign Jewish state in 1948.

A thought experiment would be to compare the life of the Jewish people in general, and individual Jews in particular, within that previous time period and the last 58 years.

Any objective view of the results would find that the “world without Israel” was a particuarly violent and dreadful place. And not just for Jewish people.

Of course, I happen to live within a “reality based time continuum”, unlike those that inhabit “Kos-land”.

  18. Nillion says:

This nut does not represent the average DailyKos user. In fact, if you look at his blog about a third of the way down, you can see he was banned for making that thread.

  19. I believe you. And yet, the piece simply begged to be fisked.

The really sad thing is, Nillion, I’ve seen that sentiment elsewhere, and not just on neo-Nazi sites (not saying that’s what Kos is). There is a large portion of people out there, both left and right, who would be thrilled to death if Israel ceased to exist.

    A world without Israel.

It seems to me Palestine would be similar to Yemen if the Zionists had not moved in. An economic basketcase. Ignored by most-everyone. Occasional civil wars and perhaps partition during the cold war. Brutal dictatorship who barely controlled the country.

A world without Israel would be a world in which Islamic nations blamed the West directly for their failure instead of blaming Israel. I believe the level of seething and hate would increase.

A world without Israel would have seen adventurous nations like Nasser’s Egypt aiming at weeker neighbors like Libya (and its oil) and Sudan (and its oil) rather than ones that could defend themselves (like Israel) leading to an increased likelyhood of war between the Anglo/French alliance (Suez 2) and Egypt/Soviet Union.

A world without Israel would have been a bloodier place for everyone invovled.
