Hamas’ disappearing part in the Shalit attack

First, the background: The IDF and security services foiled a terrorist attack in the making: They caught the terrorist with his explosives belt on, in a taxi, heading for Israel. (Link to Israeli source, you’ll see why below.)

This is how the AP reports the above situation:

In a sign militant groups were stepping up activity, soldiers caught a militant in the West Bank settlement of Barkan on Wednesday with an explosives belt strapped to his waist and ready for use, the army said. He was arrested before he had a chance to detonate his explosives, the army said.

The “activity” to be stepped up would be the blowing up of civilians in a restaurant or a shopping area. And further in the article, see how the AP spins the terrorists’ deadline expiring:

The Hamas-linked militants holding Shalit have demanded that Israel release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for information about the soldier. On Tuesday, Olmert ignored a deadline to begin freeing the prisoners.

First: Hamas’ “armed wing” is holding Shalit. Second, Olmert didn’t “ignore” the deadline. He rejected it. The AP can’t possibly tell the truth, though. That would make the pals look bad and Israel look, gee, justified in her reaction to the acts of war brought on her by Hamas these past few years.

Let’s see how Reuters spins this one:

Israel has refused demands that it free hundreds of jailed Palestinians in return for the 19-year-old soldier. The crisis has been further complicated by the fact that some of Shalit’s captors are linked to the governing Palestinian faction Hamas.

But there’s something wrong with both the AP and the Reuters version. The terrorists out-and-out identified themselves as members of Hamas last week, yet al-Reuters and the AP can’t bring themselves to acknowledge that in print today.

The ruling Hamas group said its fighters participated in the attack, calling it an act of revenge for Israel’s recent killing of militant leaders and civilians. Militants said three of their fighters were killed in a gunbattle with soldiers.

May I point out that it is a news agency’s job to report the news, not spin it, not lie about it, and not make one group look less evil in its readers eyes? Oh, wait. That’s in Fantasy World. In the real world, the media hate Israel.

And no, I’m not quite finished yet. The AP is still passing along the untruths it wrote about the rocket that hit Ashkelon. About halfway through the AP version of the story, is still lying about the high school in Ashkelon being empty when the kassam rocket hit it.

School security cameras showed a large cloud of dust rising from the point of impact. The school was empty at the time and no one was hurt.

Every Israeli news agency reported that there were many people in the school, and one said that some of the students were playing soccer outside and were thrown around by the force of the explosion.

Apparently, the AP doesn’t rely on Israeli sources for information on events within Israel. I’m sure the palestinian spokesliars, or their UN/EU/ISM enablers, were happy to oblige them in this case.

Postcript: If you read the story at the Reuters link, Yedioth Ahronoth reports that Cpl. Shalit is being held in an underground bunker, thus proving the contention that terrorists truly are ratlike creatures, as we suspected all along.

They closed down most of the roads in my neck of the woods to find this terrorist this morning. Hubby was two hours late to work – my kids had to sit on a bus for an hour waiting to be able to travel to the pool as part of their day camp. But thank G-d they got him before he could do any damage. Go IDF!

The line from Star Trek fits: “Jim, he’s dead.”

The story-tellers among the arabs don’t want to admit Shalit was murdered. (I guess they’d lose standing in Geneva, or something?)

But they’re telling LIES. Especially the one about the “bunker, food, and militants.” What? No water down there, too?

How long will this go on?

My guess is that this isn’t the point where Olmert wastes his breath.

And, Nasrallah’s “play book” where the Ron Arad family got hooked into believing miracles went on for ten years. But once Arad was shifted from Lebanon to Iran, it was “over,” save for the torture, first.

Meanwhile, the IDF is galvanized. I don’t hear the troops complaining. They’re moving slowly. And, getting rest between “movements.” While the IDF is gaining intelligence on WHERE the kassams come from. (It looks like Dugit.) And, they’ll go in and even if it looks like it’s done slowly, they’ll wipe out smooth ground. Replace it all with craters. And, not get into trouble by killng people.

Few people understand that the screaming from the stands for blood lust is a waste of time. If the IDF can be accused of killing people, who are either brave militants or civilians. Or worse, tykes. Then the smear begins.

Including the one that the Israelis fight with more material strength than anything the palestinian’s have got. So even if they win, it’s unfair.

One shouldn’t overlook the hostile press just because the Internet is overtaking them. It’s still a place where all your advantages can fly out the window.

So, Olmert, who is a very intelligent man; and whose been around the block. Both with insane factions within Israel. As well as “out” like in all of europe. Now going dark and turning muzzy. Not just hostile. But bought and paid for by Saudi extremism.

    Can those dogs win?

Well, they hate all military (especially American military). It stands in their way of taking over the world.

Meanwhile, good militaries, like good police work, WORK. That means you can’t let the troops become savages.

And, you go slowly. For all the advantages it holds. Oddly enough, Arik Sharon understood this down to his toes. And, Olmert’s no slouch. He was specifically chosen by Arik to hold Chair #2. And, Israel’s been saved from Shimon Peres.

Why did the terrorist not explode since he had his belt one? Could be the vrigins are in short supply.

  5. Byron says:

The separation between the political and military wings of Hamas is a very useful thing. It allows either to deny responsibility for the actions of the other, for Hamas to talk out of both sides of its mouth simultaneously. Anyone who takes this kind of “separation” seriously is naive in the extreme.

  6. Byron’s comment seems like a non-sequitur, but it makes far more sense if you had read the comment that I deleted, and that Byron evidently saw.

Lots of people are not reading the comments policy guidelines. This is a No Israel-Bashing Zone, and will remain that way.

    No, just terribly biased.
The penultimate bombing in Tel Aviv saw a mix of names employed.
Hamas did the managing and contracted Islamic Jihad for the planning while Al Aqsa supplied the bomber.
The money? It came by way of Hamas from Hezbollah by way of ….
    Need to ask?

All the groups act in concert in this international franchise.
Taqiya is the name of the game where the arabs are featured and the MSM goes along with any concocted excuse or lie to further their agenda.
