If the facts conflict with the ideology the obvious thing is to ignore the facts, they just get in the way. It's a very common thing on the left. "Don't bother me with a mass of petty istinas" is my favorite quote from Lenin. Istina is Russian for a homely, everyday truth, like 2 plus 2 equals 4. Pravda is a higher, revealed truth, like religious truth. It's those istinas that bollix up pravda so often. The media have their pravda, and ignore the petty istinas. If they are, in fact, intentionally distributing false information, it leads inevitably to the conclusion that everything, or at least the majority of the things, that we have learned from them, are wrong. Of course, the only other possibility is they are intentionally and audaciously lying to the public, and that is hard to believe as well, because you can't imagine so many people acting in concert to willingly and INTENTIONALLY deceive you.
