I linked your comments here to a post I have on my blog concerning an AP article about an agreement Hamas and Fatah put forth which according to the article is a step towards recognizing Israel. My take on it is was likely put forth knowing that Israel would reject it and again make the Palestinians appear like the victims they are so adept at playing. Their reasoning behind putting forth the "agreement" now is that it will likely satisfy the EU and they will allow the release of financial aid to the Hamas dominated Palestinian Authority so they can pay their 165,000 employees… sadly it will likely work.
