Extreme political correctness, muliticultural fantasies, and an unpleasant amount of New Left ideology still afflict even the most mainstream gay and lesbian rights organizations. Most of the gay people I know--liberal and conservative alike--are supportive of Israel and disturbed by the status of homosexuals under Islam. Unfortunately, the hard left ideologues behind the scenes of the major advocacy groups have a near stranglehold on public discourse. Warped as it is, "marginalized and oppressed" groups like gays and lesbians have been manipulated into showing "solidarity" with those Ultimate Victims, the Palestinians, even at the expense of their brutalized queer counterparts in the ME.
