Another liberal Zionist here, with much sympathy.

I don't blog, myself, so I don't get inundated by the real anti-Semites. But I see enough reflexive Israel-bashing by commentators I otherwise like that it makes me sick. I recall Whiskey Bar banning one poster who did nothing more than politely continue to disagree, citing facts, with the proprietor's bigotry on the subject.

Well, I do try to set the record straight when I come across that sort of thing. And now that I think of it, it has happened less lately -- maybe the smarter bloggers are catching on that the left simply got this one wrong.

Now if I could just get my 19-year-old Californian nephew to trust liberals again...

Please let me add my congratulations and encouragement to the rest.

Although I am Christian, I have considered myself an honorary Jew from college days when many of my brothers and sisters were not on the side of the angels regarding the Civil Rights Movement in the American South. It was then that I discovered at Hillel I could not only enjoy the company of like-minded peers, but with lox, bagels and danish to boot! It bonded me for life.

Naturally, when I discovered blogging I already knew that Jews would be among those at the frontier, mostly as models of civility, clear thinking and durable patience that set a gold standard in internet communication. Keep up the good work.

I can relate to this post. It’s interesting that my weblog has found such a home on the right side of the blogosphere, and such disdain on the left. I am still a feminist, still pro-choice, in favor of gay......

Wow, Mazal Tov. I have this nagging fear my brain will be completely empty of all creative thoughts long before I get to 5 years, but you're giving me some hope. A great post on a great anniversary.
