Hamas rejectionism watch: No recognition of Israel in sight

If you’ve been holding your breath waiting for Hamas to recognize Israel, you can let it out now.

Just kidding. Hamas reiterated its insistence that it wll never recognize Israel.

Addressing the question of recognizing Israel, al-Zahar added: “To all those who ask whether we’ll be recognizing Israel, our answer is clear: We will not recognize the robbing of our lands.”

On the other hand, Europe is on its way towards recognizing Hamas, in spite of its support for the Tel Aviv terrorist bombing, in spite of its rejectionism, and in spite of its refusal to change its aim at all. Its aim, of course, is the destruction of Israel. But why should the world care about that? Jack Straw certainly doesn’t.

Mr Straw said “recognition” of Israel did not mean a formal declaration by Hamas, but just a practical acceptance of the “reality” of the Jewish state.

The Foreign Secretary is said to believe that re-writing the Hamas charter, which calls for the destruction of Israel, is not a precondition for dialogue.

Even on the issue of renouncing violence, Mr Straw appears to have set the bar quite low.

It is understood that Mr Straw could accept silence from Hamas on the question of violence, leaving it to the moderate Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas to denounce the suicide bombers.

It’s just a wonderful thing that Straw thinks that Hamas doesn’t have to stop the violence, they just have to say they’re stopping the violence. Or at least not say anything at all. Or change their charter, which calls for Israel’s destruction.

Referring to a Hamas recognition of Israel, Straw stressed he did not expect a formal declaration by the group’s leaders. According to Straw, Hamas must accept Israel’s existence as a fact, but a change in the organization’s charter that calls for Israel’s destruction is not a necessary condition for negotiations between the two sides.

It just stuns me that Hamas can put one of Israel’s most-wanted terrorists in charge of its security forces, and the world still wants to give them money. This, of course, is the same country that tries to bring Israeli Army officers up on war crimes charges.

Way to go, Britain. Yeah, that’s the way to be strong with terrorists. Don’t make them do anything they don’t want to do, and give them money to kill Jews.

I can think of 6 million reasons why this should not surprise anyone.

Nothing new here. From Jews the world demands deeds; from the enemis of Jews…well, I was going to say “words,” but it’s not even that much…from the enemies of Jews, a certain broadly interpreted silence.
