This broken clock isn’t right at any part of the day

Filed under: Israel — Laurence Simon @ 6:48 pm

Iran announced that it has enriched uranium and continues to threaten to destroy Israel on a daily basis.

On the other hand, the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists haven’t moved their “Doomsday Clock” at all.

Maybe someone forgot to wind them up this decade?

  1. Iran doesn’t count on the Doomsday Clock.

    Just as India doesn’t count.

    Pakistan doesn’t count.

    Only the United States counts.

    (Well, maybe Israel too.)

  2. Those guys are idiots. I agree with the previous commenter only the US counts. You know how there is an Israel Execption Clause…well there also is an US execption clause too.

  3. As far as they are concerned, only those countries that have enough missiles to destroy the world count for the clock. Once the Soviet Union fell, and MAD (Mutual Assured Destruction) became unlikely, they just forgot about the clock.

  4. India and Pakistan do count if you look at their site, but what does NOT count is radical Islam per se.

When resetting the clock we have often noted that the growing disparities between rich and poor increase the potential for violence and war. Poverty and repression breed anger and desperation. Charismatic leaders with easy answers prey on the dispossessed and disaffected, channeling their anger into dangerous and destructive activities. The global community must recognize these facts and do much more to address them. The success of the war on terrorism depends not only on disrupting and destroying terrorist organizations, but also on eradicating the conditions that give rise to terror.

It isn’t poor or relatively-impoverished folks who make up the backbone of the Islamist groups, Methinks they should stick to atomic science.
