We like what you do…we might not always buy your reasoning, but your enthusiasm (may we say “passion”) is a good thing. And the qat pix are a good break from the disheartening plethora of nitwits who were taught as children to be antisemites and have not developed the mental maturity to think otherwise.

Sabba, sorry about “mouth-breathers.” It is that I run out of metaphors for people who aren’t very bright, and sometimes get a little too cute trying to find one I haven’t used a thousand times already.

Poor choice for allergy season, though.

Yeah, people tend to laugh at me when I describe how I used to run outside in my pajamas and throw ice cubes at Woody. Go figure.

I like that you’re emotional-but-not-exceedingly-so. It means that we really know how you feel about an issue, and that we know when you’re happy or sad. Reynolds, for example, hardly ever mentions his actual day-to-day life, which distances him from his readers. You share your experiences and that makes your regular readers feel like we know you. So we keep coming back. I don’t read very many top-of-the-ecosystem blogs because I like knowing about the person whose opinion I’m reading: what they’re like, their interests, their pets, even! It helps me judge their personalities, and get a better gauge on why they hold the opinions they do. Top-level bloggers can’t really share too many details about themselves.

FWIW, your accounts of your trials with the woodpecker were one of the funniest things I’ve ever read on a blog.

You should be kind to “mouth breathers”. Just because someone has a sinus problem is no reason to assume that he is dumb. Sometimes nasal surgery to correct the problem is not feasable.

Then again, some commenters (on other blogs) would require brain surgery to correct the problem.
