		<description>I&#039;d guess 35K is about right for a picture like that.  Pictures with lots of different colors and/or complexly-shaped colored areas in them often don&#039;t compress very well.  

For reducing/compressing pictures, get IrfanView -- quite adequate function for a much more than adequate price (it&#039;s free).  

For most of the other things most people might want to do with pictures, either Adobe Photoshop Elements or ULead PhotoImpact is more than sufficient for under $100.</description>
